Tesla's humanoid robot on the way

Tesla Inc. on Friday unveiled a prototype of the Optimus humanoid robot and predicted it could produce millions of devices from it.

Description

Tesla plans to sell each of the robots for less than $20,000, less than a third of the price of a Model Wow car, according to Mehr news agency quoted by Reuters.

A video of a prototype of the robot, made in February, was displayed on Friday that was doing simple tasks such as watering plants, carrying boxes and lifting metal rods in an open setting.

Tesla Inc. is trying to enhance the abilities of the Optimus humanoid robot to walk and make complex moves.

The company believes existing humanoid robots do not have enough "brains" and the ability to solve problems. But Optimus will be a "very capable robot" that Tesla plans to produce millions of units of.

The robot is equipped with a 2.3 kilowatt-hour battery pack, an advanced chip system and drive actuators. The robot weighs 73 kilograms
